Dominic Whitton is facing both murder and manslaughter charges

A man has been charged with murder and manslaughter nine months after an elderly woman was found dead in Tottenham. Dominic Whitton, 41, of Reynardson Road, is accused of killing 74-year-old Pepita Sarikecili in December 2024.

Her body was discovered by police in a house on Reynardson Road on January 13, 2025, after a concerning call was made to her GP surgery. The pensioner, who was also known as Pepita Garcia, is thought to have died sometime before Christmas.

A post-mortem revealed she succumbed to blunt force trauma, though the manner in which she got these injuries has not been made public. Whitton was initially charged with preventing a lawful burial on January 22 and remanded in custody.

He appeared at Wood Green Crown Court on Monday, October 6, where he was further charged with murder and manslaughter. He entered a not guilty plea to all charges and will next appear at the same court on Friday, December 12.

The Metropolitan Police previously appealed for the public’s help piecing together Pepita’s movements before her death. The last confirmed sighting of her was made in late October, Detective Inspector Barry Hart said at the time.

Officers previously visited Pepita in September 2024 after concerns were raised for her wellbeing. No action was taken after she told them she was fine.
