A man has been arrested after a memorial for murdered Lee Rigby was vandalised. The memorial to the British Army soldier is in the area where the 25-year-old Fusilier was killed, near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich on May 22, 2013.
It is not clear what damage was done to the memorial, and it was all cleared by Monday afternoon.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “We were alerted to damage caused at 12.47pm on July 28. Officers attended and a man was arrested at the location. He has been taken to police custody.”

Lee Rigby was a drummer in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and had served in Afghanistan.
Michael Adebolajo, 29, and Michael Adebowale, 22, spotted him returning from the Tower of London and attacked with knives and meat cleavers at Woolwich’s Wellington Street at around 2.20pm that day.
Adebolajo told onlookers to call the police and demanded they be filmed.
After being almost beheaded, Lee Rigby left behind his two-year-old son Jack, and fiancée Aimee West. Adebolajo was given a whole life order and Adebowale was ordered to serve at least 45 years.
