Police have launched a manhunt after an elderly woman was “barged” to the floor at Whitechapel station. Police say a man was rushing down the staircases at about 5.40pm on Thursday, August 7 when shoved a young woman out of his way.
He then reportedly barged into an 84-year-old woman, knocking her over. She was helped up by fellow Tube passengers, while the man allegedly rushed off without looking back.
The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident. British Transport Police has now launched a CCTV appeal, sharing a photograph of a man they want to speak to in connection.
Officers want to speak to a man with brown hair and glasses who was wearing a shirt, light jacket and cross-body bag. Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 654 of 7 August.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers investigating an assault at Whitechapel Underground station in August are releasing this image in connection.
“At around 5.40pm on Thursday August 7, a man was rushing down the staircases to the platforms when he shoved a young woman out of his way.
“He then barged into an 84-year-old woman on the staircases, knocking her onto the floor. The woman was helped up by members of the public, while the man ran off without looking back.
“The woman was later taken to hospital with minor injuries.”
