A man has hit out after a note was placed on his car demanding he move as he was parked in front of someone’s house – but unfortunately, not everyone is on his side

Trying to bag roadside parking outside your own home can be a nightmare.

As much as you might wish every house had its own dedicated parking spot, it can turn into a free-for-all and you can’t guarantee the space outside your home will be available whenever you need it.

One man recently received a sassy note from a homeowner while he was visiting a friend, demanding he move his car from outside their home – despite being parked in the road.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the man shared a picture of the note he received, which read: “Hi, I’m the Subaru parked in front of you. You are parked right in front of my house. Can you please move?”

In response, the man wrote in his post: “I don’t know how to break this to you but you are not a Subaru and you don’t own the street in front of your house.”

The post caused a stir online, with people asking the man why he didn’t park in front of his own house, but he responded by insisting he doesn’t live in the neighbourhood where the incident took place. He added: “I park in my driveway when I’m at my house.”

One other commenter wrote: “Why are you parked in front of a stranger’s house? That’s pretty creepy and suspicious! If it was my house I would be pretty anxious about it, which is why I would never do that to someone else.”

There were also commenters who argued that they would be annoyed by the parking situation too, but only if it meant they had to park their own vehicle far away from their house. As the note stated the homeowner’s car was parked “in front” of the man’s, it didn’t inconvenience them too much.

And what’s more, the man clarified the stranger did in fact have a driveway and a garage on their property, so could have parked their car there instead of demanding the space on the road.

Offering more clarity after his post went viral, the man wrote: “We were parked there, on the public street not blocking a driveway or fire hydrant, for two hours and discovered the note as we were leaving. Some of you need to relax. And remember that you don’t own the street in front of your house.”
