Hassan Sarout will appear in court tomorrow (October 13)
A man has been charged with rape following an investigation in Camden. Hassan Sarout, 21 and of no fixed abode, is accused of attacking a 19-year-old woman on Euston Road in the early hours of Thursday, October 9.
Police were called to the area around University College Hospital just after 3.30am to reports a teenager had been raped. She is now being supported by specialist officers at the Metropolitan Police.
A crime scene was set up on the busy thoroughfare, which runs from Marylebone Road to King’s Cross, that morning, and an investigation was launched. Sarout was arrested on Friday, October 10 and charged with rape the following day.
He is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (October 13). Enquiries are ongoing and witnesses are urged to come forward urgently.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police investigating a report of rape which occurred on Euston Road in Camden have charged a man. Hassan Sarout, 21 (23.12.2003) of no fixed address was charged with rape on Saturday, 11 October.
“A 19-year-old woman reported at 03:31hrs on Thursday, 9 October that she had been raped in the early hours of the morning. She continues to be supported by specialist officers.”
