A Reddit user was left confused and feeling ‘tricked’ after noticing that a 800g bag of British carrots in his local Tesco supermarket contained an unwanted surprise
A Tesco shopper has accused the supermarket giant of “tricking” him after revealing the unwanted contents of a bag of carrots.
The man took to Reddit to share a snap of the 800g bag of the British carrots, complete with an added spud for good measure. “Tesco tried to trick me into buying a potato,” he said in the r/CasualUK subreddit.
Whilst some respondents thought it was hilarious, others encouraged him to complain to the company in a bid to snag complementary goods. “Buy it, take it home and then write a letter of Complaint to Tesco,” one Reddit user said.
Another user quipped: “Is that cause one of the carrots has a massive chip on their shoulder?” And a third joked: “Mr spud just wants to spend a bit of time with his carrot friends, who are we to deny him this small pleasure.” Another said: “Shakes fist at the sky….. damn you Tesco and curse on your houses.” While a fourth added: “When you lie on your CV but get the job anyway…”
Others offered more conventional advice, as someone else joined the conversation to add: “Throw in an onion and a stalk of celery and we got ourselves a soup.” Another said in a similar vein: “Throw an onion in and it’s basically a stew kit.”
Sharing a similar experience, meanwhile, another person claimed: “I bought a four pack of Red Bull at the Co-op yesterday. I noticed as the cashier rang it through that the bottom of the box had been ripped, but all four cans were obviously there so I didn’t think much of it. Got home, opened the pack and it turned out someone had swapped out a normal Red Bull can for a sugar free one. Who does that? And why?”
Tesco has been approached for comment.
