A man who stumbled upon a terrifying find in a UK woodland area has sought the opinions of others after being baffled by what had been discarded at the deserted site
A man who made a bizarre discovery whilst walking through woodland has taken to social media in a bid to find an explanation. Taking to Reddit, he shared a series of snaps from what appeared to be an abandoned makeshift campsite featuring a destroyed tent and numerous items discarded nearby.
“Found walking in the woods (UK),” the man wrote in the Weird subreddit. Arguably the most notable item, meanwhile, was a terrifying devilish mask. Bottles of lighter fluid, an adjustable wrench, duct tape, and a cutter also littered the ground.
It prompted numerous other Reddit users to share their theories. “Clearly a homeless camp,” one person said after spotting a lantern still dangling from the tent’s roof.
“Unfortunately, most leave a trail of garbage everywhere they go. I hate that so few countries care for the mentally ill that cant care for themselves. We all lose because of it.”
A second person added: “Someone with a mask like that out in the woods never has good intentions. Very creepy and unsettling.”
An unsettled third wrote: “There is tape, lotion, and a face mask. Hope the thing that I assumed didn’t happen.”
A fourth Reddit user joked: “Someone had a great Saturday night. But they should have cleaned up after themselves.”
Others were more alarmed by the potential seriousness of the site, meanwhile. “Three bottles of it, no evidence of a fire, along with the bolt cutters, the machete and duct tape, yes I’d consider something nefarious,” one person suggested. “With my line of work though it’s easy to query if something is nefarious.”
And another concurred: “Not to mention, the bolt cutters, the machete in its case, a single photograph of what looks like a person standing in a nightgown out in the middle of the forest.
“Sure the mask is creepy, but look at all the other s***.”
It comes after a childlike sex doll found dumped in woodland by members of the public was initially mistaken for a human body and sparked a police investigation last week. The discovery of the “incredibly lifelike, fully weighted childlike sex doll” was found wrapped in a large black plastic bag.
A police investigation was launched and forensic experts were called at the scene, with a large cordon put in place. The bag was ultimately moved to a “sterile location” before it was opened and examined.
The contents were eventually identified to be an “incredibly lifelike, fully weighted childlike sex doll”. Police are making enquiries to try and determine the owner of the doll, with detectives describing the discovery as “deeply alarming”.
Devon and Cornwall Police later said in a statement: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish ownership. If you have any information about this incident, please contact us via 101 quoting reference number 301 18/10/25. Devon and Cornwall Police will always do everything that we can to safeguard children and would welcome any steps taken to prevent these types of dolls from being produced, sold, owned, or circulated.”
