Man in his 20s suffers ‘serious injuries’ after ‘assault’ in Leicester Square

A man in his 20s has been left with “serious injuries” after an alleged assault outside a busy London bar in tourist hotspot Leicester Square. Police were called to reports of an assault at about 3am on Sunday, 24 August. The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains.

A 27-year-old man from Hounslow has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is in custody. A police cordon closed off two venues and part of a busy tourist area following the incident. The Moon Under Water pub and Simmons bar were shut on Sunday night.

Officers have maintained a round-the-clock presence at the scene since the assault. On Monday, a forensic officer was seen entering Simmons bar.
