Man in his 30s stabbed on residential street in Thornton Heath

A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection

A man in his 30s has been stabbed on a residential street behind Croydon University Hospital. He was attacked on Meadow View Road, in Thornton Heath, shortly before 9.30pm last night (October 11).

Though serious, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed his injuries are not life-threatening. He is now recovering in hospital.

A second man, in his 20s, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in custody. A video taken at the scene shows strewn medical equipment surrounded by a cordon.

There are multiple police cars around it, and a number of officers appear to be questioning neighbours about what happened.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “At 21:31hrs on Saturday, 11 October, police were called to a report of a man with stab wounds on Meadow View Road, Croydon. A man in his 30s was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where he was assessed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

“Officers arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody. An investigation is ongoing.”

The London Ambulance Service has been contacted for more information.
