A man in his 30s was stabbed with a glass bottle outside an Aldi store in Leyton yesterday afternoon (June 23). He was attacked near the junction of Lea Bridge Road and Hitcham Road just after 3.40pm.
Paramedics treated the man for multiple stab wounds before taking him to a major trauma centre. His injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening, according to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police.
The force is now appealing for information that will lead to an arrest. Anyone who witnessed the stabbing, or has relevant knowledge of it, is urged to contact 101, quoting 5315/23JUNE.
Lea Bridge Road was cordoned off following the daylight incident but has since reopened.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at15:43hrs on Monday, 23 June to reports of an assault on Lea Bridge Road, E10 at the junction with Hitcham Road. Officers attended and found a male in his 30s with injuries caused by a glass bottle.
“He was taken to hospital by paramedics, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. No arrests have been made at this stage. Enquiries are ongoing.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.48pm on Monday 23 June to reports of a stabbing on Lea Bridge Road, E10. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager and a paramedic from our tactical response unit.
“We treated a man for stab wounds and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
