A man in his 40s was stabbed in a South London park in front of horrified sunseekers over the weekend. He was attacked in Battersea’s York Gardens, on York Road, at around 6pm on Friday, July 11.
Police and paramedics were called to the entrance near the Winstanley and York Estate, with an air ambulance landing by the outdoor gym. The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries soon after.
His condition has since been deemed non-life-changing, according to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police. The force also confirmed no one has been arrested in connection as of yet.
Witnesses say a forensics team was working on the scene yesterday morning (July 12) and a cordon remained at the scene for some time. The park was fully reopened later that afternoon.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to reports of a stabbing at 18:06hrs on Friday, 11 July in York Gardens, SW11. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
“A man in his 40s was taken to hospital for stab wounds. His condition is thought to be non-life changing.
“There have been no arrests at this stage. Enquiries are ongoing.”
