A man in his 40s was stabbed with a screwdriver on one of Kilburn’s busiest streets yesterday (July 15). Police were called to Tesco Express on Kilburn High Road just after 10am following concerned calls about the incident.
Paramedics assessed the man before taking him to hospital with a minor head injury. Another person also suffered a hand injury but declined further treatment.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place. Leonardo Bruce, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with both counts, as well as common assault.
He has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today (July 16).
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, 15 July police were called at 10:07hrs to Kilburn High Road following reports that a man had been stabbed with a screwdriver. Met officers attended the scene alongside paramedics who treated a man in his 40s for minor injuries.
“Police on scene arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and for possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place. Leandro Bruce, 23 (11.01.02) of no fixed address was charged on Wednesday, 16 July with grievous bodily harm without intent, possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place and for common assault.
“He was remanded into custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 16 July. The investigation remains on-going.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.29am on Tuesday 15 July to reports of an incident on Kilburn High Road, NWG. We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We treated a man for a head injury and took him to a local hospital as a priority. We assessed another patient for a minor hand injury but they declined further treatment.”
