Choosing how to propose can be an exciting yet daunting life event – and one couple has divided opinion after getting engaged in an unusual spot ‘near garlic and tuna’
Popping the question is one of the biggest moment in the lives of people who dream of getting married. It can be a fun yet daunting task for the individual planning to propose to come up with a unique and non-cliché proposal when planning to ask for their partner’s hand in marriage. While some opt for grand gestures, others know their fiancé-to-be would prefer something more lowkey and intimate.
People have been left divided over this unique proposal outside a potato van in Manchester “in the wet and cold”. Viral company, Spud Bros, travel around the country with their famous jacket potatoes and have a Spud Bros Express chains in Liverpool and London. The co-owning brothers have served celebrities from Will Smith to Alex Warren, but recently they were gobsmacked after a fan proposed to his partner outside of a Spud Bros van.
In a post shared on Spud Bros Instagram, it showed the special moment. The caption said: “It’s official… two days ago we had the first ever proposal at Spud Bros! He got down on one knee right outside the van, and honestly… scenes.”
“It’s a potato kind of love,” commented McVities. “Let me guess there wedding gonna be potato themed,” commented another.
Many shared their candid opinions on the gesture. “We are at a cultural low point,” brutally put one. Another said: “Sorry you PROPOSED outside of a potato van in the wet and cold?”
“I’d actually be mortified if I got proposed to by a street food van,” another said. One other wrote: “In the wet and cold? Outside a food truck? Christ.”
“Imagine smelling garlic tuna cheese and beans while you’re getting proposed to,” said another.
But others rushed to defend and support the pair. One individual said: “It’s the thought that counts, and they both look very happy. Congratulations.”
