Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Thamesmead

A man has been rushed to hospital with “potentially life-threatening” injuries after being stabbed in Thamesmead this afternoon (Tuesday, August 5). No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.

The man, in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to his arm after police were called to reports of an assault on Whernside Close at around 12.15pm today.

A crime scene remains in place at the scene, with photos showing tape covering the footbridge by Byron Close. Police officers are also currently in the area.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called at 12,14pm on Tuesday, August 5 following reports of an assault on Whernside Close. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his arm.

“His injuries are potentially life-changing. Officers remain in the area and no arrests have been made at this stage.

“A scene is in place at the location. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD3172/5AUG. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
