Man ‘slashed in face’ in night time attack on busy South London road

A man aged in his 40s was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the face on Beckenham High Street last night (Sunday, August 3). Police say the victim was helped by members of the public who came across him on nearby Croydon Road.

Police and paramedics were called to Croydon Road shortly after 11pm. The victim was taken to hospital where his injuries were found not to be life-threatening. He is still receiving treatment.

An investigation is underway but no arrests have been made so far. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police.

A force spokesperson said: “Police were called at 11.02pm to Croydon Road, Bromley after members of the public assisted a man with stab wounds to the face. The incident had allegedly occurred on Beckenham High Street.

“When they arrived on Croydon Road, officers alerted the London Ambulance Service. A man in his 40s was transferred to hospital, where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue. If you have any information that could help police call 101 quoting CAD 7460/03Jul.”
