A man was overheard telling his wife she was “too slow” at the gym, and her response has left people floored. People can’t believe what played out as she tried to exercise in peace
As much as many of us strive to stay fit, healthy and to work out with ease, it’s no secret that it can be tough at times. Sometimes we all have off days, and our motivation can be low, but we still get up and try our best most of the time.
Perhaps this is why one woman was left furious when her husband told her she was “too slow” while working out at the gym, as she was clearly trying her best. A clip of the incident has gone viral on TikTok as she was fed up of being criticised for the way she wanted to exercise.
A video, shared by a woman called Grace, revealed what happened, and people were left floored that the events unfolded. Grace admitted she was “screaming inside” as she saw an “older couple” have a major disagreement.
While they didn’t appear in the video, she told the story as she remembers it playing out, and people can’t get over it. One thing is for sure though – the woman really did have the last laugh.

In the clip, Grace wrote: “A man at the gym just got annoyed with his wife for taking too long on the treadmill, and she said ‘you know, you can just leave, you’re not tied to me’. And, you know what, hell yeah, get your steps in girl.”
Since the video was shared, it’s been viewed over 12,000 times, and people were quick to comment too. Many celebrated the woman for speaking up and standing her ground.
One said: “I love this.” Another wrote: “Go off Queen.” Meanwhile, someone else simply replied with a crown emjoi, making their thoughts pretty clear.
It’s not the first time someone has been told to “hurry up” at the gym. Back last year, the topic came up on Reddit, when a user wrote: “So I’m at my gym, doing my workout, and the guy next to me is on the leg press machine.
“Two people just walked up to this guy in the middle of his workout and asked him if he was done yet, and could he please hurry up and finish so they could have the machine.
“They asked him politely but, I mean, is this a thing that people do nowadays? If it had been me I would have told him that I was going to be done when I was done, and they could wait.”
The post got a lot of people talking, and they shared many different thoughts about gym etiquette. Many blasted the demanding behaviour.
One wrote: “I’ve definitely seen people just hang out too long by the leg machines even when they’re done, sometimes just chatting with their friends., but asking someone to hurry up while they’re actively working out is crazy.”
Another said: “I just smile and nod when people speak to me when I’m working out. I never turn off my music to hear what they have to say. I’m not there to socialise, and I definitely don’t want to hear ‘hurry up so I can use this equipment’.”
A third also added: “Asking someone how much longer they’re going to be on a piece of equipment is normal and acceptable. Asking someone to hurry up so they can have it is rude.
“On the other hand, if you’re hoarding a piece of equipment, taking forever, playing on your phone for five minutes between sets, doing super sets on the only piece of equipment (like the leg press machine) is also rude.”
