Four men were injured after a knife-wielding man threatened the public in Leicester Square yesterday morning (Sunday, September 21). A 50-year-old man has been arrested in relation.

The men, aged in their 20s and 30s, are not believed to have life-threatening or life-changing injuries, say police. It is thought this is an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.

The 50-year-old man, who was also taken to hospital, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, grievous bodily harm, affray and possession of a Class B drug.

A spokesperson for the Met said: “We were called at 01:08hrs on Sunday, 21 September to Leicester Square, Westminster to reports of a man with a knife threatening members of the public.

“Officers attended and found four men, aged in their 20s and 30s, with injuries. They are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“A 50 year-old-man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon, grievous bodily harm, affray and possession of a Class B drug. He was also taken to hospital.

“This is believed to be an isolated incident and enquiries are ongoing.
