A traveller opened up about his unforgettable experience in Wales, describing it as the “best time” of his life. The man, believed to be from Uzbekistan in Central Asia, reminisced about his solo journey across the UK, with a special fondness for the week he spent in Wales, soaking up its stunning landscapes and historical treasures.
In his Reddit post, which garnered hundreds of likes and comments, he opened up: “Hey everyone. Let me break this down for you. Back in June I visited Wales, and honestly, it was the best time of my life. But you know, traveling is not the same as living there.”
He continued to explain his connection to Wales as he added: “Why am I telling you this? Well, it all started when some exchange students from Wales came to study for a semester at my university.
“I became friends with them really quickly (I just love meeting people from other countries). They showed me lots of photos, shared stories about Wales, and that’s when I fell in love with the country.”
After saving diligently, he embarked on a UK tour, reuniting with his Welsh mates in what he calls “the best trip” ever.
With his undergraduate studies wrapped up, he’s now contemplating pursuing a Master’s degree in Wales.
However, he expressed concerns: “The problem is…
“I keep seeing news and posts about how the UK is going through a lot of struggles right now – crisis, unemployment, cost of living, etc. And that makes me a bit scared.”
Addressing a Welsh community forum, he asked: “So my question is: from your perspective as locals, how bad is it really?
“Is it still worth pursuing studies (and maybe life) in Wales? Or do you think the next few years will be too difficult for newcomers?
“Sorry for the long post, but I really wanted to explain the whole story. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!”
The query sparked a wave of responses, with hundreds liking and commenting to share their positive experiences.
One person reassured: “The cost of living in Wales is among the cheapest in the UK, so that mitigates a lot of those problems.
“The NHS is very luck based, I personally have had no issues with it. I love Wales and don’t feel any need to move anywhere else.
“It also depends on how much money your Master’s is gonna bring in and what type of work. If you are likely to be remote, Wales is unbeatable IMO (in my opinion).
“I am fully remote up the Welsh valleys, in waterfall country. The quality of life when you just have average money is incredible, especially if you like nature.”
Another was charmed by Aberystwyth: “I only visited Aberystwyth a couple years ago and got incredible vibes. Going to convince my eight-year-old daughter to go to uni there so I can visit regularly.”
