A man has been jailed after a teenager was stabbed multiple times with a machete and left for dead in Haringey. Kennedy Latigo, 28, was sentenced to 30 months in prison on Friday, July 19, at Wood Green Crown Court for grievous bodily harm without intent.

On November 8 of last year, a 19-year-old man was left for dead by his attackers, after being stabbed multiple times with a machete on Parkland Road in Wood Green.

Officers and medics were able to perform life-saving first aid and the victim was then airlifted to hospital, where he received emergency surgery and his condition stabilised.

Mr Latigo had attempted to flee the country following the attack, but was arrested on November 30, 2023 at Stansted Airport. Mr Latigo originally pleaded not guilty to the charges but on Monday 20 May changed his plea to guilty. Three other men arrested in connection with the incident were released with no further action.

“This was a shockingly violent attack that clearly intended to end the life of the victim,” said Investigating Officer Detective Constable Rachael Pagett.

“Were it not for the fast actions and first aid skills of my uniformed colleagues this could so easily have been a murder investigation. Their actions undoubtedly saved the victim’s life.”

Police officers were able to identify the victim after reviewing CCTV and using mobile phone data to place him at the scene at the time of the attempted murder.
