A police investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted in the stairwell of a London Underground station. At about 6.20pm on Wednesday, July 30 the victim was attacked in Canning Town station.
British Transport Police has issued a CCTV appeal to track down a man who could assist their investigation. The CCTV image shows a man wearing a black gilet, t-shirt, jeans and sunglasses with a cross-body black bag.
A force spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating a sexual assault at Canning Town Underground station have released CCTV images in connection. At around 6.20pm on Wednesday, July 30 a man sexually assaulted a woman in a stair well at the station.
“Detectives believe the man in the CCTV images may have information that could assist their enquiries. Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 161 of 31 July 2025
“Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
