The dress has been praised by shoppers for its “flattering” style and “comfortable” fit

Marks and Spencer has shoppers loving a summer dress that some are claiming ‘hides lumps and bumps’. The Linen Rich Printed Halter Neck Maxi Dress is priced at £45 and comes in a brilliant bright and tasteful green colour with white patterns across the entire body of the dress.

The dress itself is made from a rich linen material which has been constructed into a maxi dress style that settles on the wearer’s ankles. The neckline is a beautiful round halter neck which meets the material at the back, tied in a pretty bow. The bust area is also accentuated with a small cut out design which also stretches down the front of the dress and around the hem.

Marks and Spencer promises the dress comes in a ‘flattering shift shape’ in a regular fit and features a ‘contemporary halter neck’ which ‘completes’ the ‘elegant’ look. Shoppers can ‘embrace warm weather’ with this dress as the linen is the perfect breathable fabric for summer.

There are also plenty of other long dress options available at M&S including the Linen Rich Beaded Midi Shift Cami Dress costing £49.50 and the Back Detail Ombre Slip Dress for slightly more at £65. Or for ladies who love a short dress style the popular Mini Tiered Beach Dress is still available for £17.50.

While not the cheapest dress option shoppers can buy from the popular retailer, people really do appear to be loving the dress, awarding it an overall star rating of 4.8 from over 40 reviews on its website.

One shopper who was very pleased with the dress wrote: “Very flattering fit, hides a few lumps and bumps! If 5’5 and under then go for the shorter length so comes just below mid calf otherwise will be down to feet. If you like it long then stick to regular. The colour also looks better in real life than the pictures.”

Another customer who couldn’t get enough of the dress said: “Lovely comfortable dress and great for holiday. I also bought the sandals worn by the model and they are a perfect match.”

A third customer who was very satisfied shared: “Very happy with this dress which I’ve worn already with white trainers and a denim jacket. It’s a slightly heavier fabric than I expected, which was a plus for me as I plan to wear it on holiday, then wear it to work under a cream or white blazer. It’s a soft fabric so it doesn’t crease as much as some linen fabrics, and it stays looking smart throughout the day.”

“A very flattering style, which is not too scooped/low under the arms – which this style of dress can be. The only tiny niggle is the trim down the centre front which reveals a little bit! However, I would buy it in another colour if it was available.”

One shopper who wasn’t as big a fan of the dress as others wrote: “Returning this dress. Far too much material despite buying the shorter length.”

And a second, who would’ve loved the dress but felt swamped remarked: “Beautiful colour and pattern. Love linen fabric too. Unfortunately I could only order a size 10 online (although the model was wearing an 8). Top fitted nicely but very wide from bust down. Felt swamped.”

For those looking for a maxi dress option this summer but don’t normally shop in M&S, River Island has some brilliant options to choose from. One that is currently trending on its website is its Black Zebra Print Belted Slip Maxi Dress costing £40, or another animal print option is the Brown Leopard Print Halter Neck Slip Maxi Dress with a price of £50.

Or if you’re not a massive fan of animal print and want something a little more basic, the chain’s Black Ribbed Bodycon Maxi Dress is the perfect affordable basic option.
