McDonald’s is discontinuing six beloved items in the coming days to make way for its spring offerings – including an ‘unreal’ staple that fans insist should become a permanent fixture on its menu

All good things have to come to an end, including these McDonald’s cult classics.

The fast food chain is getting ready for a huge menu shakeup as six items are slated to be discounted in the coming days. Fans will say a teary farewell to the Easter-themed Hot Cross Bun Latte and Hot Cross Bun Pie, as well as the iconic Creme Egg McFlurry, Galaxy Truffle Bunny McFlurry and the McCrispy Deluxe.

All of these goodies hit stores nationwide on March 13 – but will be axed on April 16 to make way for the new spring menu. However, there is one more limited-edition dish that is being scrapped – and fans are devasted.

The famous Halloumi Fries, which are served with a ‘rich tomato dip’, has made a triumphant return on menus for the last three years in a row – but it’s time to say goodbye once again to the cheesy treats. Fans flocked to social media to express their outrage over the axing, with many urging McDonald’s to make the Halloumiu Fries a permanent fixture on the menu.

“McDonald’s, you NEEEED to make Halloumi Fries a permanent menu item,” one X (Twitter) user pleaded. Another agreed, commenting: “Keep the Halloumi Fries as a permanent item I love them so much.” While a third branded the item as ‘unreal’. A fourth penned: “If McDonalds halloumi fries don’t become permanent then I quit. I don’t know what I’lll quit but I’ll quit because they bang.”

It’s not all gloom and doom though, as McDonald’s will soon launch its Cheese and Herb Melts – priced at £2.89. The cheesy dish features a blend of mozzarella and Emmental and is served with a ‘rich tomato dip’.

On April 17, the beloved Galaxy McFlurry and Galaxy Caramel Pie will also make their highly-anticipated return – along with the Biscoff McFlurry that was discontinued just six weeks after its debut in 2023. For those with less of a sweet tooth, the iconic Chicken Big Mac will also return, and a new Quarter Pounder Deluxe will hit menus nationwide.

The new menu, which was announced last week, has received mixed responses online. Many Facebook users took the opportunity to call for the Chicken Legend and Big Tasty to return. “Bring back the big tasty. Should be on the menu all the time it’s the best one they do,” one customer pleaded. “No one likes the chicken Big Mac! Bring back the chicken legend!” another wrote. While a third said to ‘forget all of’ the new menu and ‘bring the Big Tasty back permanently’.
