The Duchess of Sussex’s strawberry jam from her brand American Riviera Orchard have been criticised as eagle eyed social media users spotted the labels on the jars are “peeling off”
The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has had fans leap to her defence over her ‘soft launch’ of strawberry jam from her luxury brand, American Riviera Orchard.
Meghan first announced her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard on March 14, which quickly grew an online following on Instagram. However, for over a month, there have been no further announcements. Now, the first potential product has been revealed. Friends of the Duchess have received handmade pots of strawberry jam, hinting that this could be the first release from the luxury lifestyle brand.
Friends of the former Suits actress have shown they’ve been sent a jar of homemade strawberry jam as they shared the debut product on social media on Monday. Those receiving the limited edition samples have shared them to social media, showing the small jars with handwritten labels featuring the American Riviera Orchard logo and ‘Montecito’ underneath, as well as the words numbering which jar it is out of 50, indicating the batch of jam is a small production run.

Since launching, fans of the former Suits actress have praised the star for her new launch, yet some have been forced to defend her after some eagle-eyed social media users spotted the labels on the jars are “peeling off”. One person wrote on X: “Anybody notice the label on the promo jams Meghan Markle is sending to ‘friends’ is literally peeling off? Not a good start.” Another one said: “Cheap labels coming off. This is what people were waiting for?”
Responding, fans defended the Duchess, as one shared: “I know people are saying the label is coming off. Remember, Meghan is a sustainable girly. The label probably isn’t stuck firmly on to allow people to peel it off easily and reuse the jar for other things – maybe their own homemade batch of jam…from a cookbook.”
