Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have been estranged since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to the US, but a source claims the sister-in-laws see eye-to-eye on one thing

Meghan Markle has reportedly been inspired by Kate Middleton’s parenting for her new Netflix show.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed the exciting news back in March that she would be launching her own lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, with a focus on homewares and kitchen accessories, as well as nut butters, jams and conserves. It was then reported that Meghan was set to star in a new cookery show on Netflix, as part of her and Prince Harry’s £80 million ($100 million) five-year deal with the streaming giant, which would focus on her new business venture.

While Meghan’s relationship with her estranged sister-in-law has become been frosty, it was reported that the Duchess has been “inspired” by Kate’s approach to parenting; in particular, her desire to have her and Prince William’s three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – alongside her at public appearances. Meghan and Kate had a good start to their friendship when Harry introduced the former Suits actress to his brother and beloved sister-in-law, but their touching bond later crumbled.

At the time, it was alleged Meghan had made Kate cry after an argument over Princess Charlotte’s flower girl dress, which the mother-of-three claimed was too big and needed altering. Tense words were exchanged, and according to palace sources, Kate left in tears after Meghan was allegedly rude to her. However, during her and Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the Duchess of Sussex claimed that Kate had in fact made her cry, and had “owned it and apologised”.

In a heartwarming U-turn, Meghan has reportedly become inspired by Kate’s maternal side and wants to include her and Harry’s children – Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2 – in her new Netflix show. An insider told OK! magazine that the 42-year-old wants to follow in the Princess of Wales’ footsteps when it comes to carefully introducing their children in the spotlight. “She would love for Archie and Lilibet to make guest appearances on her new show as being a mum is a huge part of her life and wants to show off that part of her world, just like Kate does occasionally when she takes her children to work events,” they explained.

However, Harry is still “traumatised” by the intrusion into his childhood, as well as into his adult life, and the source claims he wants to keep his young children out of the spotlight, which has left the couple at odds over the Netflix show. “They’re in a completely different situation and Archie and Lili are never going to be anonymous and ‘normal’ kids because of who their parents are, so Meghan is hoping Harry will get on board with her plans soon,” the source added.
