Meghan Markle will showcase her cooking ability in her newest Netflix venture, but fans were left disappointed by the news filming won’t take place at her Montecito mansion

Filming for Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix cooking show is said to be under way, but its location has been heavily scrutinised.

It was initially thought the Duchess of Sussex would give fans a sneak peek into her lavish Montecito mansion on the show. However, they were left disappointed when it was revealed the streaming giants had instead hired another location nearby to shoot their footage.

It was rumoured one of the filming locations was a 14-acre cannabis farm in California. But, the Duchess of Sussex’s team have confirmed to the Mirror that this is incorrect.

A source close to Meghan told us: “The filming location is not shot on a farm, but at a residence, and I can confirm that there are no cannabis plants anywhere near the filming location.” The rebuttal comes after the Mail claimed the show was being filmed in two locations; a mansion in Montecito belonging to Tom and Sherrie Cipolla and a farm owned by the cannabis-supplying Van Wingerden family which is situated near the seaside city of Carpinteria. The former flower farm, which has been dubbed Farmlane, was turned into a cannabis farm in 2015 and is said to have faced thousands of odour complaints by nearby residents in recent years.

Meghan’s latest venture onto the small screen was announced amid the couple’s Netflix deal. It’s claimed the series will show her “softer side” but an expert has hinted she might not come across as “relatable” in it. The Duchess of Sussex’s show is set to celebrate “the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship”.

PR expert Lynn Carratt recently told Meghan will likely “provide a glimpse of her softer side as it celebrates the joys of cooking and entertaining friends”. She continued to note how the Duchess “has gone from a women with political ambition to making jam, so it will be great for viewers to get an inside track on where her passions lie”.

However, she added: “I just worry that the documentary will showcase her seemingly perfect life, and the public may prefer a more relatable story.”
