Duchess Meghan and Jess Mulroney were once inseparable, but in recent years, things seem to have become pretty frosty between the two women, with new reports claiming Jess is ‘afraid’ of her former friend
They were once two peas in a pod, but Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney’s close bond has now seemingly fizzled out after a mysterious fallout.
The pair became fast friends whilst they both lived in Canada, when Meghan was filming the hit TV series Suits. For years, the Duchess had nothing but glowing praise for her stylist pal, but when Jessica got caught up in a race row, relations between them seemed to cool.
Jessica was accused by influencer Sasha Exeter of taking “offence” to posts she had made about the Black Lives Matter movement back in 2020, and claimed that Jessica threatened her career in private messages.
Swiftly, the TV networks Mulroney worked with distanced themselves from the stylist. Though Jessica made a public apology, her professional endeavours took a major hit, as did seemingly her friendship with Meghan.
Neither woman follows the other on social media, and Jessica hasn’t publicly supported Meghan’s new lifestyle brand, As Ever, or her Netflix show. According to recent reports, Jessica is ‘fearful’ of speaking about their formerly close relationship because of how “powerful” Meghan is.

Jessica is said to have been offered a whopping $1 million for a tell-all memoir, which could blow the lid on her relationship breakdown with the Duchess, and the many secrets she knows about Meghan.
However, the stylist isn’t likely to be opening up anytime soon, with Jessica’s team telling the Daily Mail that she would “never” discuss Meghan publicly and was “absolutely not” considering a book.
A source close to Jessica was reported by the outlet as saying that Meghan still has a lot of influence in the social circle the pair once shared in Canada, so it’s not likely Jessica will do anything to rock the boat any time soon.
“Meghan still has a lot of eyes and ears in Canada,” they said. “I suspect Jessica is not sure what to do [with what she knows]. Meghan is still pretty powerful, and they have a lot of people in common.
“She is probably biding her time. She lost her career, but to come after Meghan could be perceived as being petty and bitter and could potentially alienate her even more”.
The pair were once so close that Jessica’s twin sons, John and Brian, acted as pageboys in Meghan and Harry’s lavish royal wedding back in 2018, and her daughter Ivy was a bridesmaid alongside Harry’s niece, Princess Charlotte.
Despite the fact that Jessica has denied the possibility of a memoir, another source said that the stylist “knows where all the bodies are buried” because of how close the pair once were.
