Model Chrissy Teigen – who is a long-time friend of the Duchess of Sussex – shared why their children don’t have playdates together, while reflecting on her years long friendship with Meghan
Chrissy Teigen has revealed her honest opinions on her long-time friend Meghan Markle, and why she hasn’t taken her children for a playdate with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Teigen, an American model and the wife of singer John Legend, appeared on the second series of Meghan’s lifestyle programme on Netflix, joining her in the kitchen to celebrate their children’s birthdays with a craft activity.
Now, Teigen has shared her real thoughts on her friend – with whom she appeared on the US version of Deal or No Deal as ‘briefcase girls’ before Meghan found fame on the TV show Suits – and their children don’t spend quality time together.

Speaking with People magazine at an event, Teigen spoke fondly of her friendship with the Duchess, saying: “I really adore her. I think she is so incredibly strong.”
Despite speaking lovingly of their close bond, Chrissy admitted that her children – who are of similar ages to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – don’t often have playdates with the royal children. Instead, she confessed that her family tends to spend a lot of their time at home.
She explained: “I don’t go anywhere. I try to do every photo shoot, every everything at our house. So no. But if the time came up, absolutely.”
Teigen spoke candidly with the publication about why she believes the Duchess is so “polarising” to many royal fans and commentators, saying “It is insane to me how polarizing she is for so many different people, when she really is just such a kind, good person that wants the best for all her friends and the best for people around her, and the best for her own relationship and for her children.”
Teigen added: “She just wants those things. And people come up with all these different things that she could be about or what she wants, … [but] it’s not that complicated.”
Chrissy also said that while some critics “come up with their own story” about the Duchess, she continues to just be herself. She said: “I think it’s cool that [Meghan] is just like, ‘Listen, say whatever you want. I’m happy and I’m healthy and I feel good’.”
It’s not the first time Chrissy has defended Meghan, speaking about their bond in 2021 and blasting people for making out Meghan was “so malicious” and “so crazy”.
She said: “That’s why you look at everything and you’re like, ‘My god, what is absolutely wrong with people that they have to make this person out to be so malicious or so crazy?’ when it’s just as simple as them being as kind as everyone says they are.”
Teigen also threw her support behind Meghan over her tell-all Oprah interview with Prince Harry, saying: “I think she’s been very honest and open. I think her truth has been her truth since the very beginning.”
While Chrissy did not appear on season one of Meghan’s TV show, she did appear on an episode of season two. The episode showed the two women sharing plenty of laughs together, especially as they made jewellery featuring flowers representing their children’s birth months.
