Meghan Markle said ‘never say never’ about a return to hit legal drama Suits and now the LA spin-off is under way, speculation on her acting career is mounting
As the spin-off for hit legal drama Suits starts, the question on everyone’s lips is whether Meghan Markle will return.
The Duchess of Sussex starred as Rachel Zane in the popular series from 2012 until she quit for her new royal life in 2018 after 100 episodes. However, now she has left her role as a senior working royal speculation has continued – especially with the new series under way.
The new take will focus on a new main character, with the logline stating it will centre around a new character called Ted Black. The former federal prosecutor from New York will show how he has “reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles”.

It’s claimed Black will be played by Arrow star Stephen Amell. Josh McDermitt from The Walking Dead is also set to be a key figure.
However, previous favourite star Patrick Adams teased his and Meghan’s return at this year’s Golden Globes. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the time, he said: “Sure. Mike and Rachel in Seattle. They gotta come down to LA. they gotta fix some stuff.”
He continued: “If we got the phone call, if I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again. I love the show, I love the character. And I loved working with all these people.”
Meghan also previously gushed over her past role, telling Oprah Winfrey “never say never”. She also implied her temptation to return to rom-com type lines. “I miss them so much,” she added. “I’ve probably watched When Harry Met Sally a million times. And all the Julia Roberts rom-coms. We need to see those again.”
Despite speculation, a royal expert believes Meghan could struggle if she were to return to acting. Tom Quinn told the Mirror: ” “Harry and Meghan have talked about the possibility of Meghan going back into acting if the couple’s commercial ventures fail – but things have moved on since Meghan last acted which might make it very difficult to make a comeback.
“On the other hand, there is still Meghan’s fame as a troubled Royal, which might be enough to ensure a starring role in something, but it might be something the senior royals in the UK would dread.”
