A number of arrests have been made, and an investigation has been opened
Police have arrested several people in Walthamstow after a group of men sustained injuries consistent with a corrosive substance.
Police were called at 4.30pm today (1 October) to an incident on the high street, at the junction with Hoe Street E17 London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service were already at the scene. A number of men were then found have sustained injuries “consistent with a corrosive substance”, police said.
A number of arrests have been made, and an investigation has been opened. A crime scene is currently in place and there is an increased police presence in the area. If anyone else has relevant information they are asked to contact The Met Police quoting CAD reference 5267/01OCT25.
The local MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasey wrote on social media: “Horrific reports being made of an incident tonight in Walthamstow near the top of the market. Please be assured I am seeking urgent information as to what happened and for the condition of those involved.
“I want to be clear I recognise recent spate of incidents worrying and am seeking further details of what actions are being taken to tackle
It comes as a 36-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after being shot in Walthamstow in the middle of the night yesterday (Monday, September 29). No arrest has yet been made in connection with the incident. Read the full story here .
