This warmer period will come to an abrupt end in just over a week’s time, with temperatures finally dropping into single figures
London’s unusually mild November spell is set to continue for the coming week. However, unsettled conditions are on the way, with rain dominating the forecast over the next few days. BBC weather predicts eight days straight of rain.
The mild weather has been a defining feature of the month so far, but it comes with typical autumnal disruptions – falling leaves have been causing problems on several Tube lines. Looking further ahead, this ‘warmer’ period will come to an abrupt end in just over a week’s time, with temperatures finally dropping into single figures by Monday, November 17, marking the first truly cold snap of the season.
This Evening and Tonight: A changeable evening is in store as cloud thickens from the west. Rain will arrive across western parts of the capital before midnight, turning locally heavy in places, before spreading slowly eastwards through the early hours. Expect breezy conditions at times, with overnight temperatures holding up at a relatively mild 9°C – continuing the theme of warmth that has characterised November so far.
Monday: A grey, wet day across the capital. The morning begins cloudy with scattered showers, but an area of heavy rain will push in from the south later in the morning and through the afternoon, with the potential for some locally torrential bursts around midday. The good news is that conditions will improve later, as the persistent rain breaks up into more scattered showers and brighter spells develop. Despite the unsettled weather, temperatures will reach a maximum of 14°C – well above average for early November.
Tuesday: A welcome improvement as the rain clears out. Tuesday will be a breezy but predominantly dry day, with variable cloud cover and a few sunny spells breaking through. Those sunny intervals could become more frequent as the day progresses, offering a pleasant reprieve after Monday’s washout. A decent day to get outdoors between the unsettled spells.
Wednesday: Another reasonable day with sunny intervals featuring prominently, though it will remain a little breezy. There’s the risk of the odd shower cropping up here and there, but these should be isolated rather than widespread. Overall, not a bad midweek outlook for November.
Thursday: The unsettled theme returns as cloud builds in again, with showers moving through at times. Nothing particularly persistent or heavy, but you’ll want to keep the umbrella handy. Overnight conditions through the latter part of the week will turn chilly at times, with a few patches of mist and fog developing in clearer moments between the showers.
