The wet weather will keep temperatures in the double digits on most days
There’s no doubt about it, London is in for a wet spell with a week of almost non-stop rain belting down across the city. But it’s not all bad, as the wet weather promises to reduce the cold, with temperatures remaining in the double digits on most upcoming days. Today (Thursday) will be the coldest day of the following week, with light showers until lunchtime and then mostly dry with a peak temperature of around 7C.
After that, the forecast from the Met Office is a little more optimistic. Tomorrow (Friday) promises to be a mild and dry afternoon with sunny intervals right up until 5pm, when light rains will return. The showers will linger on Saturday, but the temperature will rise to a steady 12C.
Early Sunday morning will see the heaviest showers, which will gradually reduce in intensity, with a peak of around 14C. The outlook will stay the same throughout next week, with persistent light rain and top temperatures hovering between 13C and 14C.
The Met Office states: “Thursday will see cloud and outbreaks of rain, sometimes heavy, will clear by early afternoon. Largely dry conditions with bright or sunny spells will follow, along with a chance of a few heavy showers, although these mainly along the south coast. Maximum temperature 9C.
“Tonight will be largely dry and clear, with a widespread frost developing, also patchy freezing fog. However, a few heavy showers may brush English Channel coasts.
“Friday will be dry through the morning, with bright or sunny spells once early patchy freezing fog clears. Wet and windy conditions gradually spread east through the afternoon and evening, with coastal gales.”
