The weather has finally turned into the proper summer we all know and love, with even more sunshine on the way. After a soggy start to the month, which saw frequent showers and overcast skies, the weather has finally turned in our favour.
It’s the perfect time for picnics, barbecues, and exploring local parks. Don’t forget a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of water if you’re heading out for long walks.
Warm nights mean gardens and terraces are buzzing, and al fresco dining is back in full swing. Of course, summer comes with its own challenges – sweaty nights, restless sleep, and the constant reminder to slap on your suncream.
According to the Met Office long-range forecast, temperatures are set to stay high until the end of the month, with the occasional patch of showers. This week has already seen consistent highs of 25C and above, with some days even tipping past the dreaded 30C mark, making it feel proper mid-summer.
The Met Office outlined on its website what to expect from the long-term forecast: “High pressure will be dominant across much of the UK at the start of this period. This will bring a good deal of fine and dry weather with spells of sunshine for many.
“Any showers will probably be confined to the southwest of the UK but could be heavy and thundery. Temperatures are likely to be well above normal, especially in the south.
“Later, it will likely become more changeable with some showers or longer spells of rain at times. Rainfall is expected to be highest in the south, where some heavy, thundery showers are possible, with drier conditions further north.
“Some periods of dry and settled weather are also likely to develop at times. Temperatures are expected to be above normal.” It’s a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and soak up every glorious moment of sunshine. Just be mindful, though, as there’s still a chance of thunderstorms and rain.
