A Met Police officer has been found not guilty of rape and other charges following a trial at Guildford Crown Court. Jamie Howlett, 34, formerly of Horley, was acquitted of all charges by the jury on Friday, May 9.
Howlett, a serving police constable at the Metropolitan Police, had been charged with five counts of rape, one charge of controlling and coercive behaviour, one charge of sexual assault by touching, one charge of sexual assault by penetration and one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.
The investigation led by Surrey Police began in May 2021. The trial lasted five days and the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on all the charges.
