The picture shows two women looking at each other while a young boy sits on the ground playing with his toys. But can you tell which of the women is the boy’s mother?
At first glance, it may seem like there’s nothing that immediately jumps out as different between the two women, and you’d be forgiven for thinking that either one of them could be the boy’s parent.
If you take a closer look, however, you’ll notice that there are a couple of details that make it obvious who the mum is.

The boy’s mum is the woman sitting on the left-hand side of the picture. There are a few clues that point you in that direction, such as the fact that their hair colour matches, and the fact that the boy is facing her while playing with his toys, indicating that he feels comfortable with her and she isn’t a stranger.
Also, the woman is leaning forward in her chair toward the child, which reflects the natural desire for a mum to protect her child – while the other woman is relaxed in her chair.
