Fans of online cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have discovered a cheap yet effective way to lift those unsightly yellow marks from your loo – without having to spend your Sunday scrubbing for hours to no avail

If you have kids, or a husband who refuses to put the toilet seat up, you’ll know how nightmarish those stubborn loo stains can be.

We know, nobody likes popping on their marigolds and deep cleaning the bog, but sometimes it’s necessary to clear those bad smells and unsightly yellow stains. However, fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch say the chore doesn’t have to require hours of tough scrubbing.

In fact, it’s possible to get your loo looking brand new again in just five minutes – and you don’t need to splash out (haha, get it?) on fancy cleaning products that will break the bank.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Army Facebook page, which has more than 470,000 members, one anonymous user posted a photo of their ‘disgusting’ toilet seat. “Why is the rim yellow and how do I make it white again?” they asked.

“The toilet seat isn’t that old and I know it’s a urine stain but I can’t get it white again.” The woman says she has tried popular products such as the Pink Stuff, Elbow Grease, and Mr Muscles with no avail. She added: “It’s plastic so I don’t think bleach would do anything.”

Swathes of avid cleaners flocked to the comments section to share their advice, with many recommending Magic Eraser sponges to make the loo look like new again. You can pick up the cleaning products, which require no scrubbing, from a slew of online retailers.

B&Q is currently selling a pack of 10 for just £5.99 – that works out at just 59 per sponge – which describes itself as ‘the ultimate cleaning tool for tackling tough stains and marks’. The Abbey Magic Erasers are washable and can be used on a variety of surfaces. The Range sells a similar version by Flash – which cost £1.99 for a pack of two.

“Mine was like that and I tried everything,” one user wrote. “Then I discovered those magic sponges. They’re amazing stuff.” Another agreed, commenting: “I used a magic erase gently and it comes off so easily in five minutes.” A third added that she has a toilet-training toddler and the product makes her loo look ‘like new’.
