M&S has sparked debate online after unveiling its latest ready-meal that combines Italian and Indian cuisine together. Some think the dish looks ‘banging’ while others think it may be one big prank
An unusual meal combining Indian and Italian cuisine has raised the eyebrows of shoppers.
Luxury supermarket chain M&S is behind the controversy after it has unveiled its first ‘mashup of the year’. The new meal is part of the retailer’s Viva! Summer range and has already launched in stores nationwide for a limited time.
But a photo of the ready meal has gone viral online, as some are convinced it’s an early April Fool’s Day prank. However, others can’t seem to get enough of the hybrid dish – with people saying they’ve been cooking similar meals at home. Intrigued? You should be…
The Chargrilled Chicken Tikka Masala Pasta has whipped up a frenzy after being spotted in stores. It features a ‘creamy, rich and lightly spiced tikka masala sauce with chargrilled chicken breast and delicate pasta finished with aged parmigiano’.
Social media users quickly bashed out their opinions online, with one user fuming: “No. It’s bad, it’s wrong and it’s evil.” Another wrote: “I like trying new things but this is not the one.” While a third asked: “Is this not posted a few days early? It’s not April 1st yet.”

However, many raved about the dish – with some even describing it as ‘banging’. “Oh I need this,” one person wrote. Another agreed, commenting: “Love chicken tikka masala, love pasta – this is going straight in my basket!!!.” While a third added: “Better to make your own, [I] have been for years – [it’s] nothing new.”
According to the Metro, Bethany Jacobs of M&S Food said: “Our Best Ever Chicken Tikka Masala is the number one Indian dish in our Foodhalls. We’re also famous for our pasta dishes, so when Russ came back with an idea of an Italian and Indian fusion, I was all for it.”
