M&S shoppers have fallen in love with a £39.50 linen dress that’s “really comfortable and cool” for summer. Customers say the Linen Rich V-Neck Mini Shift Dress is “flattering to all body types”, and it’s available in two different shades.
While some suggested the dress is “beautifully made,” it’s worth noting that others criticised the short length and thought the fabric was too sheer. Both the red and the white dress are usually available in sizes 6-20, but some sizes are currently out of stock.

With its block colour and subtle detailing, the M&S dress is likely better suited to shoppers looking for a more understated look. Reviewers gave the dress an average rating of 4.3 out of five stars. One impressed shopper wrote: “Very pleased with this dress for fit price and quality. It was for summer days out.” A second praised: “Really comfortable and cool and flattering to all body types.”
A third fan added: “Gorgeous light white dress – just perfect for Abu Dhabi heat! Nice and loose and beautifully made.” Unfortunately, other customers had problems with the fit. A reviewer said: “Lovely dress but very short. I purchased this dress for summer but sadly had to return as it was too short for my 5ft 2 frame at above the knee. It fits true to size and was very comfortable.”
A similar comment read: “Loved the red colour so tried instore. The v front and back were lovely but it was way too short on my 5ft 2 frame, about 2 inches above the knee. Also, avoid if you are carrying any weight around your tummy or hip area because the style emphasises this area. Quite pricey when compared with linen dresses from other stores.”
Despite this, someone else wrote: “Great holiday dress. So glad I ordered this, thought may be too short but not at all. Lovely fit & perfect length for me, just what I was looking for.” Highlighting another concern, a reviewer criticised the fabric, suggesting it is too sheer.
“Bit of a difference in sizing, got this in a 10 size was ok but wasn’t sure about the colour so ordered in the red however when that came it was much smaller. Disappointed had to send red one back. Thinking about white one, little bit see through,” the buyer said.
However, a different shopper thought it was perfect for their holiday, writing: “Lovely summer dress for holidays, I’m 5ft and it comes just a bit below my knees but doesn’t look frumpy. If it came in black I would buy another – I bought the red.”
