A mum from Russia shared a photo showing her young daughter wearing a specially-adapted shower cap she made at home – and the reasoning behind the design is genius

A mother has revealed the reason that she makes her daughter wear a unique piece of headwear – a specially-adapted shower cap.

Margarita Nemirovskaia from Russia has sewn some kitchen sponges onto the cap and then tied it onto her 11-month-old Liliya daughter’s head. And it’s actually a very smart solution to a very common problem.

Margarita came up with the hack to stop her young child from bumping her head while she is learning to walk. She first tried it out on her older child, Emilia, who is now two, and says it prevents little ones from getting any bumps or bruises if they fall over.

Margarita said: “The idea came to me suddenly. It lets the girls learn to stand and get used to the space around them but if they fall there’s no bumps or bruises.”

Originally the mum had wanted to get some helmets for her daughters to wear. But when she went shopping she soon found that none of the ones available fit her first child’s head properly, with them either being too big and too heavy. So, she decided to take matters into her own hands and design something herself.

After realising she had stumbled on the perfect solution, Margarita began filming her daughter Emilia wearing it around the house and sharing it with her social media followers.

Now her youngest, Lilya, is also wearing her own version of the shower cap protective headgear. Margarita added: “The idea is great, it softens the blow for if they do fall and lessens the chances of hurting themselves.

“I had a lot of positive reactions to the video but did have a few negative ones too. However, I would definitely recommend it, you can even sew more sponges on to offer more protection.”

It comes after savvy mother-of-four Kirsty Foley revealed how she manages to get at least one “peaceful” child-free hour to herself each week – leading her to be branded a ‘genius’ on TikTok.

In the clip, Kirsty, a student midwife, can be seen sitting in her car eating a chocolate doughnut. Alongside this, she says: “Parenting life hack… Step one: Tell other parent you’re off to do the food shop. Step two: Grab coffee and snacks. Step three: Go and collect the click and collect order you already pre-ordered. Step four: Enjoy your peaceful child free hour+.”
