Despite it being a personal choice for parents over what they choose to name their baby – one mum has been brutally slammed online over her unusual name choice
Even though it’s a personal choice, people will have their opinions on baby names – and one mum has been told the name she chose is “nasty”.
It’s one of the most important decisions any expecting parents will have to make, and while some may opt for something classic and traditional, others choose something a little more unique and different.
Now this new mum has been brutally trolled for the name she chose for her newborn after she shared a sweet snap of her baby’s newly decorated nursery that revealed the name – Gnasher Vincent – and people weighed in.
The image shows the wooden crib with a mobile attached to the ceiling hanging down. The room had been decorated with cosy furnishings all ready for her newborn. To top it off, there was a painting on the wall of an outline of mountains, and her baby’s name underneath – Gnasher Vincent.
It was posted in a Facebook group called That Name is a Tragedeigh, a group where people will share unusual baby names they have come across and it wasn’t long before people chimed in on this name. Not only were they left baffled by the choice, but many were quick to call it “nasty”.
“That name is Gnasty” one Facebook user quipped, while another penned: “Good God that’s ghorrible.” One user jibed: “Perfect name for the kid who won’t stop biting people at daycare lol,” and a fourth said: “This group should be used to make these names illegal. Many were worried about how the child would grow up with the name and be subject to torment for the rest of their life.
Another mum shared her ordeal when she realised her baby’s name of choice was also the name of a laxative brand. The mum-to-be “dreamt” about the name about for years, but now she’s reluctantly looking for other options after the disaster realisation. The name she had was “Senna” and took to Reddit to ask others if it was a bad idea to keep the name, in an anonymous post.
She emphasised how much she loved the name, but revealed she’s just found out it’s also the name of the laxative brand thanks to TikTok. She said: “[I] just found out via TikTok that it’s the name of a laxative. I’m feeling absolutely devastated, and still unsure if I should change it. The mum then revealed she’s open to suggestions from others and asked if it would be bad to keep the name.
