Say goodbye to spag bol-stained T-shirts and strawberry dyed jackets. Mum Emma O’Donnell has found the most cost-effective way to get rid of stubborn stains without spending a penny
One mum has shared a game-changing hack that makes stains on kids’ clothing ‘literally disappear’.
Keeping your little ones’ garments clean is an almost impossible task, especially if they’re at stage where they’re more interested in throwing their spag bol than eating it. Of course, you can always rely on powerful stain removers – but these can be on the expensive side and are often filled with strong chemicals.
Luckily, cleaning savvy parent Emma O’Donnell has found a genius solution that won’t cost you a penny (well, kind of…).
Taking to TikTok, the mum of three said: “Apparently boiling water on any fruit stain, it doesn’t matter what fruit stain it is, literally anything, is like magic. So we’re going to give it a try.”
O’Donnell, from Scotland, then filled a kettle up with water. Once boiled, she applied the boiling water to her child’s white top which was covered in a red stain. The stain quickly lifts from the garment and looks brand new.

“Wow, that’s magic,” one person raved. Another agreed, commenting: “[The stain] literally disappeared!” While a third added: “I’ve saved so many baby clothes like this.”
Many also recommended their own cleaning solutions to lift stubborn stains. Several parents hailed using Milton sterilising tablets in hot water, saying they ‘couldn’t live without’ the hack.
However, they warned this should only be done on white clothing to prevent bleaching colours. Other users suggested applying Fairy washing up liquid straight onto the garment and scrubbing the stain out – while others said white vinegar and yielded impressive results for them.
