‘Murdered’ London baby’s mum in hospital after man, 26, arrested

The mum of a baby found dead in a London home is in stable condition in hospital. She turned up at the hospital at around 2.05pm yesterday (Monday, July 8), having just given birth.

A man has been arrested on the suspicion of murder, child neglect and concealment of a birth after the baby was found in a Bloomsbury home. Officers attended a home in Taviton Street, where they found the baby.

The 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. A crime scene is in place.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur, leading the investigation, said: “This is a very complex and sensitive case.

“At this early stage, we continue to work alongside the NHS to ensure the mother of the baby receives the necessary care in hospital.

“My detectives from Central North Public Protection team are working on a range of enquires and we await the results of forensic examination before we can establish the full facts of the investigation.”
