The woman said she didn’t plan on a “full-blown” affair, but she loves him and the situation is “just very messy”, as they’re both in relationships and have children

A woman who is the “best of friends” with her boss has revealed she has secretly been sleeping with her husband.

The woman said they “don’t want to hurt anybody” while speaking on an episode of the Other People’s Lives podcast.

The presenters, Joe Santagato and Greg Dybec, revealed that she’d sent them an email in which she described herself and her boss as the “best of friends”, so they asked her about the current dynamic.

She said: “Yeah, and that’s another reason why it’s really hard on me because I, you know, I get to thinking, and she’s never done anything to me, and she’s only been good to me and has helped me in a lot of situations.

“So I often get guilt tripped myself because of that, and I feel the only reason why I haven’t ended the whole situation is because I truly love him. I truly care about him. I can’t even think to end things with him.”

It all started when she found a “good job” with an “amazing” boss, and around six months to a year later, the pair became “really close” at work. They soon realised they were “morally just on the same compass”.

Her boss started inviting her to her house for drinks, but she didn’t introduce her to her husband for around three to four months. It meant he only “intrigued” the woman once she found him on her boss’ Facebook profile.

She attempted to “ignore” these feelings, but once she saw him in person, they “reignited”. She decided to talk to him the next time she visited her boss’ home.

The pair quickly grew close, and it “felt different than a friendship”, but she said she “didn’t want to pursue” it. A “flirty comment” one night when the woman was drinking with a friend, however, changed the dynamic.

She admitted she was “shooting” her “shot” when she told him she would be happy to join her boss and her husband in the bedroom, but she only wanted him. The pair then flirted for about a month before they decided to meet.

She said: “When I first was going into it, I wanted to sh*t my pants. I was so nervous; I was so scared, especially because he’s also, I don’t know, 16 to 18 years older than me… 18?”

“So that in itself is nerve-wracking. You know, I don’t… I don’t know him a whole lot. I only know him over text and what he tells me and what I know from what my boss tells me.

“So I was nervous, but I mean, I went there, and I made it there and after that, it was kind of like, well sh*t; now what? You know, because he asked me, ‘Well, now what is this going to be?’

“And I told him straight up, ‘Well, this can’t be an affair’. You know, ‘This can’t be a full-blown affair’. Those are my exact words. I said we could meet up every once in a while. It could be every once in a while thing.”

The clandestine romance did indeed become a “full-blown” affair, however, and the relationship continues to this day, with the couple attempting to meet at least once a week.

The woman, who isn’t married but has a boyfriend, said the situation is “just very messy”, but they hope they can be together “eventually”, despite them both having children.

In terms of the future, she said neither of them want to leave their situations at present, and he would like to wait until his child turns 18 before he divorces his wife – six years from now.

However, her child is just four years old, meaning if she stuck to the same rule she would have to wait 14 years, but, despite everything, she remains very much undecided.
