A 34-year-old woman has been told she “has daddy issues” and “it won’t last” after sharing she is dating a man 28 years older than her. You can’t help who you fall in love with and mum Jessica and 62-year-old Alan had an instant connection after meeting at a party – and just a few weeks later they were a couple. People online and their loved ones have been sceptical about their romance, but they insist it’s real love.

When the American duo first met, they never discussed ages so weren’t aware of an age gap. Jessica soon discovered Alan not only has the same name as her dad, but is the same age. She wasn’t attracted to Alan at first, but really liked him as a person. However, after she started to intervene with his style and dress sense she started to feel an attraction grow and decided that she wanted to be with him. “I always say Alan fell in love, and I walked in love,” she shared on YouTube’s Love Don’t Judge.

At first their family and friends questioned the relationship, but now they are full on board. However online, as Jessica loves sharing TikTok videos of the pair, people still pass judgement.

Jessica, who describes herself and Alan as “ying and yang”, knew from that day that the only way people would take them seriously was if they were to stay together and they did just that. Nine months after meeting, Alan proposed, and they have now been together for over 10 years, and have an eight-year-old daughter together.

“The doubts of people pushed us together,” said Jessica.

The couple said last year they were on a cruise, and enjoyed dancing together, but three woman were shouting at Alan, questioned how he could be with someone much younger. He also gets mistaken for Jessica’s dad often. Even when Jessica was going into labour, she claims hospital staff repeatedly asked her if Alan was her dad. She insisted: “No, he’s THE dad.”

“The only way to prove people wrong is to stay together,” Jessica added. “Our thoughts has always been age doesn’t matter,” added Alan.

“I think my attraction to Alan grew over time as far as physical attraction but I was attracted to everything else immediately – his success, the way he carried himself, the way he pursued me immediately, he was a gentlemen.”

Jessica, who says she has helped refined his look since being with him. “We met through a mutual friend. She invited me to Alan’s condo to play darts and we started dating immediately after that.” Alan said: “It was like one of those complete wow factor…and it just came over me.”

Jessica’s dad is supportive of the relationship and says he observed his daughter dating older men throughout her life. While her dad admits it was a bit awkward at first, he insisted that it “all worked out” and he “never had any doubt” that they were both in it for the right reason.

While they have received a lot of judgement, the couple have also been inundated with support online. In the comments on Jessica’s TikTok page, one individual described the duo as “so sweet”.

Another commented: “I love your relationship!! makes me feel better about dating older.” “That’s awesome,” said another.

One woman who is dating a younger man, shared: “Best decision I ever made loving a younger man.”
