A mum has been left stunned after learning that her young daughter is being bullied by the other kids at her school because her Stanley cup isn’t ‘real’
Unfortunately, bullying is still extremely common in schools, with kids being teased about all sorts of things, from the brands of clothes they wear to how they look. And while mums know that bullying can – and does – occur in schools, one mum has been left shocked after hearing the reason her preschool-aged, daughter is being bullied.
The upset mum took to Reddit to share a post about the bizarre situation and said: “Am I the only one here? My daughter has always been a girly girl. She will sneak my small purses and take them to school and tried to sneak my Stanley once.”
The woman explained how, after her daughter tried to take her own Stanley cup to school, she got her a lookalike cup, and said: “I’m like, ‘Okay, here’, not thinking she’d know the difference we got her one similar.”

Unfortunately, the lookalike cup didn’t fool her daughter’s school friends, with the little girl telling her mum how ‘they pick on her at school’ and tease her by saying ‘she has a ‘Steven’ not a ‘Stanley’.
At her daughter’s admission the mum was left stunned, explaining that while she knew how kids could be about these kinds of things, she was shocked that this was already happening in a class of three and four-year-old children.
Other parents were quick to comment on the situation, with one saying: “This is the result of kids having access to social media at way too young of an age.” While another agreed, adding: “One girl in my daughter’s class was ruthless in teasing about material stuff.”
Another parent believed it was a good opportunity for the poster to teach her daughter about peer pressure and said: “In KINDERGARTEN?!? That’s embarrassing for those kids’ parents if they are acting that way. I’d speak to her teacher and don’t give in. It’s a very good teaching moment about peer pressure and self confidence as well as dealing with bullies.”
