A woman was shocked when her best friend confessed she had developed feelings for her husband and asked her to open their marriage so she could date him – the wife was even branded ‘selfish’ for refusing

A woman has been left astounded after her best friend confessed her feelings for her husband and asked the couple to open their marriage. The disgruntled wife explained she and her husband had been happily married for five years and have two children together.

The unnamed woman, 30, said she was blindsided when her best friend “Lisa”, 29, admitted she found her pal’s spouse attractive and said she admired their relationship. Rather than respect their union, however, Lisa asked whether her friend would consider letting her husband “be with her too”.

Taking to Reddit, the woman wrote: “I was shocked and told her no, explaining that my husband and I are committed to each other and that we are not interested in an open relationship.”

However, Lisa was not happy with this decision and branded her friend “selfish and closed-minded.” “She argued that modern relationships should be flexible and that I was denying her happiness,” the woman continued.

Lisa took one step further and started keeping her friend at a distance, even spreading rumours about her among their friends – some of whom even turned against the blind-sided wife. “This has caused a lot of tension, and some of our mutual friends are now taking sides,” she said. “My husband is supportive of my decision, but I feel guilty for the drama it has caused.”

However, others were quick to support the woman and offer her advice. One said the woman was not in the wrong, adding: “Tell the friends that are on her side to let her f*** their husbands.” Another agreed: “Seriously, do this. You are 100% in the right here, your ex-friend is so self-absorbed that it beggars belief.”

Another added: “OP [original poster] needs to learn the phrase ‘Dead to me.’ It means that this woman and her supporters don’t exist in her mind anymore. They are no longer contacted, replied to, or acknowledged as physical beings. If someone brings up their name, she replies, ‘Who?'”

Issuing a series of updates, the woman said her friends were now all on her side – and her husband had also rejected Lisa’s advances. “Me and the rest of the group have officially cut contact with Lisa. Just hoping she doesn’t try to reach out,” she said.

“Also just clarifying that Lisa also asked my husband for an open marriage, he also rejected saying that ‘even if I was I would never want to go out with you.'”
