A neighbour from hell has been causing so much trouble that people living nearby are looking to take action, and have gone as far as to take ‘petty revenge’ on them
A resident has sought revenge on a neighbour from hell who has been blasting music at all hours of the day. Their actions against the next-door neighbour have left the person next door feeling slighted and wondering what to do. An anonymous post to the r/NeighboursfromHell Reddit page confirmed the resident would be taking action against their neighbour.
The resident has gone as far as to ask for help in plotting their revenge on the neighbour, who has been blasting music and revving their engine. The sound pollution their neighbour is responsible for seems to be annoying other people on the street too, though nobody has taken action yet.
They even requested ideas for “petty revenge” on the forum, where many suggested consistency is key when dealing with hellish neighbours.
The resident wrote: “I own a townhouse where my open side patio faces the backside of another building where that building’s garages and back bedroom windows (second story) are probably 60 to 70 feet away from this building.
“In June tenants from hell moved in. Trashy parents with a bunch of teenage boys who work on dirt bikes and four wheelers in the garage at all hours of the day.
“They rev the engines constantly and drive around the neighbourhood for a minute or two and then come back to the garage and continue revving the engines.
“The noise is actually crazy, and we have good windows that block a lot of sound- but we’ve recorded over 80 decibels from our own living room of sound with the windows shut. They also blare bass-heavy music constantly- the music and revving is not drowned out by our fans, white noise machines, closed windows, anything.
“We’ve called the non-emergency line and their behaviour hasn’t changed. Our neighbours have contacted the property management company that rents to them and they were told that they’ll talk to them. Again, no change.
“Please help me with petty revenge ideas. I can’t do anything that will inconvenience other neighbours like blasting music back at them or anything, because we’re in such close quarters with everyone.”
Members of the public have since shared their advice for dealing with neighbours from hell, with one person suggesting “consistency” is the only way to go when filing police reports to actually deal with the noise.
One person wrote: “Consistency is key. Keep making reports to both police and the housing company. Submit a copy of the police report every time to the company.”
Another added: “Look up the noise ordinances where you live and if they are in violation take screenshots of the sound app to show to the police and the leasing company.”
A third shared: “Handful of bird seed by their cars. Then when the birds start feeding regular, seed their cars too. Walk by toss handfuls.”
