A man who tried to have food delivered to his house has been left gobsmacked after his neighbour threatened to call the police on the delivery driver for an outrageous reason
Many of us indulge in takeaway orders from time to time. Having the food delivered straight to your door without having to lift a finger is hugely convenient, but it isn’t always easy. Delivery drivers can sometimes end up at the wrong address or accidentally hand you someone else’s food, leaving you hungry.
But one man has claimed his delivery driver ran into an awkward situation with his neighbour recently when attempting to deliver a selection of pizzas to the man’s house. Tom Cassell, a YouTube creator also known as Syndicate, shared a video in which he was standing outside his house waiting for the driver to arrive, but got a strange phone call.
When he picked up the phone, he could hear his delivery driver claiming he was outside, even though he was nowhere to be seen. The driver had actually ended up at one of Tom’s neighbours’ houses instead, and there was one big problem – the gate to the driveway had shut behind him, and he could no longer get back out.
In his video, which was shared on TikTok, Tom explained: “The delivery driver has gone through someone else’s gate, is on their drive, and the gate has shut behind them, and he’s in the wrong drive.”
The driver phoned Tom to tell him what had happened as he was attempting to knock on the neighbour’s house to get them to open the gate. But during the phone call, Tom could hear his neighbour telling the driver that if he came on their property again, he would “phone the police”.
The neighbour could be heard saying: “If you do it again, I’m going to report you to the police.”
The two people on the phone continued to have a back-and-forth that couldn’t be heard properly on Tom’s end, before the driver made it out of the property and asked Tom if he had heard the conversation.
He said: “Yeah, I heard that, he threatened to ring the police on you!”
The driver could then be seen coming down the road toward Tom’s house after he had successfully navigated to the correct address. Tom then got his pizzas, apologised to the driver for the rude comments his neighbour had made, and made his way back inside his house.
He added: “Honest mistake from the delivery driver. But he pulled up outside someone’s house, and they opened the gates to let him in, but then, when he tried to get out, the neighbour wouldn’t let him out?”
Commenters on the post were left in stitches. Many said they felt bad for the delivery driver but found the overall situation too funny not to laugh.
One person said: “I was laughing so hard at that. Poor delivery guy!”
Another added: “I couldn’t stop laughing at this. The reaction was so good.”
A third wrote: “This is funny, but I’m sure it wasn’t to the person on the other end!”
