A homeowner has reached their limit after their neighbour kept parking on their private driveway, and always seemed to have an excuse for using it. Now they are plotting their next move
A parking dispute has left a resident infuriated as their neighbour won’t stop using their private driveway. Despite the parking being included in the lease, it seems the neighbour always has an excuse for parking in the spot. It’s a recurring problem which has left an anonymous member of the public infuriated, and wondering what they can do to stop the parking dispute.
In a post to Reddit, the disgruntled member of the public shared their parking problem, and explained what they planned to do next. Their post to the forum resonated with plenty of other homeowners who had experienced similar issues. They have since shared their thoughts on what the furious resident could do to deal with the neighbour.
The furious homeowner wrote: “So I just got home from a 12-hour shift, completely exhausted, and what do I see? My neighbour’s beat-up sedan, parked smack dab in the middle of my driveway. Again.
“This is the third time this week, and I’m losing my mind. I live in a townhouse complex, so parking is already a nightmare. I bought this place specifically because it came with a private driveway.
“I’ve talked to them multiple times, and it’s always the same BS excuse, ‘oh, just for a minute, I’m waiting for a delivery, or my sister is visiting and she needs a spot.’ I get it, parking s**ks, but that’s not my problem.”
This marks the third time this has happened, with a polite first exchange leading to a crumpled up note on the Sedan windshield. The third time appeared to be the breaking point for the resident, who explained it’s not just fury over the parking spot but how much of the driveway is blocked.
They added: “I need to get inside, but their car is literally blocking me from even getting to my front door without walking through the grass.”
Now they’re prepared to take drastic action. They explained: “I’ve tried being the nice, understanding neighbour, but it’s gotten me nowhere. Part of me wants to just call a tow truck, but I don’t want to escalate things. What else am I supposed to do? What would you guys do in my situation? I’m so over this.”
One person suggested: “Park behind them, walk the dog, eat, go to bed. Let him figure it out in the morning. If you’re not feeling tired, call the tow truck.”
Another added: “Yep, this is the move. Park behind them and go about your night let them sweat it out in the morning. If they still don’t get it, tow truck time.”
A third shared: “You have two options. The first is going over to your neighbours and demand them to move it ASAP or it will be towed. And, threaten them with if ever done again, it will be towed.
“The second option is calling a tow truck and have it towed. You are not escalating anything, they are by being extremely disrespectful ON PURPOSE. They have zero respect for you, and are taunting you by doing this over and over again. You didn’t want this, but they have forced you to deal with it.”
