A woman slammed her nosy neighbours after they called the police to her house multiple times because her ‘grass was too high’ and lodged a noise complaint over a vacuum
Feuding with your neighbours can make for an uncomfortable living situation.
Let’s face it, we’ve all had days where our neighbours have annoyed us. Maybe they like playing loud music when you’re trying to relax, or perhaps they start their Sunday mornings with some DIY work when you were hoping for a peaceful lie-in. But most of us understand living in a built-up area comes with some annoyances that can’t be helped, and hopefully, if you’re courteous to your neighbours when they’re a bit noisy, they’ll do the same for you.
However, that’s not the experience one woman is having with her neighbours. She claims her neighbours have taken a dislike to her since she moved in and always complain about everything she does. In fact, their complaints have gone so far they’ve contacted the police twice because the grass on her lawn was too long, and have lodged a noise complaint over her using her vacuum cleaner.
The woman, from the US, believes her neighbours don’t like her because they currently own multiple houses on their street and wanted to snap up hers when it went on the market. Now, they take their anger out by “doing everything they can” to get her and her family to move out.
In a post on Reddit, she wrote: “They’ve called the police twice because our grass was too high. Granted, it was getting a little long the first time, but grass grows. At least come talk to us about it before calling 911 over GRASS.
“Four times now they’ve called Animal Control on our dog. It’s either ‘he doesn’t have water’ (he always does), he’s ‘barking too much’ or ‘he’s not getting dog food’ (they saw us give him table scraps once and now think he doesn’t get properly fed). Not to mention all the police visits for pointless noise complaints (twice the ‘loud noise’ was our vacuum cleaner).”
And that’s not all. The woman claimed her neighbours also take up the parking spaces outside her house, yell across her garden to the people living on the other side of her, and are “generally terrible” to her.
Asking others for advice, she continued: “What do I do? I don’t want to move, but it seems like they’re doing everything they can to push us out. Can I get back at them somehow? A way to make them stop? I just want peace.”
Commenters on the post offered their sympathies to the woman. Many said the best thing she could do was ignore their complaints and continue to live her life happily in her house as the ultimate revenge.
One person said: “The best way to get back is to not give a f**k. I’m sure the cops know them and will stop coming over stupid s**t.”
Another added: “Get Wi-Fi cameras everywhere ASAP. Speak calmly to the police and really get your point across when they come pointlessly that you are being harassed by the neighbours [who are] using the police as their own personal henchmen.”
