A Taylor Swift fan is deliberating whether to ‘crush’ her daughters’ dreams after being given tickets to see the US star so far away they would have to fly to the concert
A woman didn’t know whether to laugh or cry following her sister’s surprise gesture of securing her tickets to Taylor Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour.
Taylor is currently on the UK and Ireland leg of her world travels, performing dozens of hits from throughout her career every night. After missing out on tickets when they went on sale last July one super fan thought she’d missed out, meanwhile – only to be presented with three by her generous sibling out of the blue.
“Yesterday my sister came round and told me she had a surprise for the girls,” the woman explained on Mumsnet. “Three Eras Tour tickets for me and the girls! The girls (and me) were so excited, youngest ran off to show her aunt what outfit she was going to wear, and oldest kept announcing that it was the best day of her life.”
However, the excitement appeared to be short-lived after her sister informed her that her husband will be able to drive her to the airport. “Airport? I’m not going to the airport?” she continued in the Am I Being Unreasonable forum.
Detailing a huge dilemma, she continued: “Turns out the tickets are in London. This Sunday. We live in Ireland. My sister bought the tickets, but now I’ll have to book flights and hotel. I have work on Monday so I’ll have to try book that off. We have a family holiday coming up as well as my best friend’s hen party so really do not have the money for flights and a hotel, if I can even find a hotel this late notice.”
The woman says she now faces the prospect of having to “crush” her daughters’ dreams, or somehow find £200 for the privilege. “I just wish she’d come to me first before telling the girls, ” she cursed. “Am I being unreasonable to be angry at my sister?”
“Wow that’s terrible,” a fellow Mumsnet user agreed. “It’s a tough spot she’s put you in. I’d ask her what her solution is to the problem she’s made.”
A second suggested: “Ask her to lend you the money for flights/hotel and you will pay her back when you can. Lovely idea but I’m not a fan of gifts that create work on the receiver’s end.”
A third woman slammed: “She definitely should have spoken to you first. Hotels are going to be extremely expensive and she’s barely given you any notice to get the Monday off work. She has been really thoughtless and I say this as someone who really wanted tickets (but not under these circumstances).”
After digesting the comments, the woman later returned to her post to vent further frustration. “I just found out she bought the tickets almost two weeks ago, so I’m even more annoyed that she gave 4 days notice just because she wanted to tell them in person!” she raged.
